Our Story

Challenges We Met

Our team faced challenges in communication and collaboration. Oftentimes we sent messages on social media, however the effectiveness of communication was very low quality. Many teammates seldom checked their phone, and even when they checked their message, they just scrolled over the message. Our team reached a compromise to reply with an emoji to show that they received the message. Another problem was resource management. Having all those documents, videos, pictures and graphs, it was hard to organize the resources. Our team solved this problem by creating a google cloud where we could classify the resources and make them available when we needed to access them. Lastly, we had difficulty making progress while not having a good use of our own time. Each member of the team was responsible for some parts of the project, but at the same time we are students. We had a lot of assignments to do while finishing the project. The solution that we then figure out is to draw up a weekly schedule monitoring the degree of completion. We also set deadlines for weekly tasks and allocated a fixed time dedicated to finishing our weekly tasks.

Lessons that we have learned

On this journey, we gained invaluable experience and lessons that extend beyond the confines of textbooks, classrooms, and academic institutions. As we step out of our comfort zone, certain skills and values have emerged as cornerstones of our personal and collective growth. For instance, we have broadened our skills to communicate effectively, strengthened our love toward the marine environment, acquired the ability to construct our own websites, and made contributions to our society and environment.

One of the fundamental lessons we’ve learned is the art of cooperation and effective communication. Through collaborative projects and interviews with unfamiliar individuals, we have honed our ability to work as a team and engage with diverse perspectives. These experiences have not only fortified our interpersonal skills but have also equipped us with the tools necessary to navigate the complexities of a globalized world. Furthermore, our journey has instilled in us a profound appreciation for the environment, particularly the marine ecosystem. Through our interactions and studies, we have developed a deep-rooted love for the oceans and the life they harbor. This newfound passion goes beyond mere academic understanding; it serves as a driving force propelling us towards responsible environmental stewardship.

Beyond the realm of academia, school has sharpened practical skills that hold significant societal relevance. The ability to construct a website not only reflects our technological proficiency but also opens doors to effective communication on a broader scale. Furthermore, we have learned to construct our thoughts and arguments with precision, enhancing our ability to contribute meaningfully to discussions on pressing societal and environmental issues.

In conclusion, this project has woven a tapestry of lessons that extend far beyond academic achievements. From learning the importance of cooperation and communication to fostering a genuine love for the environment and honing critical thinking abilities, we emerge as well-rounded individuals ready to make positive contributions to the world. These lessons reflect on our actions to have a deep sense of respect and commitment to the betterment of society and the environment.

In the future, we plan on starting nonprofit organizations (NGO) that connect students with multiple different NGOs in Taiwan and possibly around the world. We seek the opportunity to collaborate with other NGOs to increase our influence. We want to participate in more competitions because we believe the more we attend, the more the world sees us. We want to push our missions further to not only protect the ocean, but other areas such as wildlife, forest management, and other major global environmental crises. Those areas are needed to reverse unsustainable use and more future research. Therefore, with the original team, we will start a fundraising campaign where we seek sponsorships from people and companies to supply our NGO to keep us going. Also, we can effectively use social media and the website we built for the project to establish a strong online presence. This way, more people will see our action and acknowledge our mission to understand that there are still some people on Earth who treasure our mother planet. Using those fundings, we will implement programs that we have created to save the planet and empower young people to do the same thing as us.
